United retain Senior Cup

LEEDS UNITED 2 BRADFORD 1

Leeds United were not seriously troubled to retain the West Riding Senior Cup at Elland Road last night before a crowd of 4,000 who paid £390. Leeds appeared to take things easy in a moderate first half, and Bradford wasted scoring chances when Pickard, Brickley and Redfearn were off the target as marksmen. Leeds showed something like the form which had taken them far in the Second Division promotion race only for a spell in the second half, but that was sufficient to ensure victory. Dawson and Gibson paved the way for goals by Smith and Nightingale during the ten minute spell of clear Leeds supremacy. Redfearn scored Bradford's consolation goal ten minutes from the finish.
